Check Weather Conditions Before Going Travelling And Camping
Even with all your planning and preparation, sometimes the weather won’t cooperate with your camping or travel plans. But that doesn’t have to ruin your camping, travelling or holiday experience.
With planning and preparation, it is possible to camp all year round in most kinds of weather. Checking the weather forecast regularly, listening to a radio for weather updates and knowing what your family or group is going to do in the event of bad weather. Can enable campers to have a safe and fun trip anytime of year
Several days before you leave for your camping trip check the weather forecast regularly and keep continuing to check weather conditions. If inclement conditions are forecast be prepared with the necessary equipment, or if extreme conditions are forecast have a alternate plan like considering camping at another location or postponing.
Never camp in a dry creek or river bed or in low areas, if it starts raining these areas can be very wet or flooded quickly
The weather must be considered as rainfall can affect road conditions and can make gravel roads slippery, therefore you will need to drive slower. Try to choose the best time of the year to travel to this area.
Also consider the travel time and rest breaks you are allowing for your trip.
- What time you leaving?
- How long will it take including rest breaks?
- Where are you stopping to camp?
- Plan to arrive about mid afternoon?
- Have you allowed a bit of extra time in case of minor mishaps?
Plan well, Be prepared and have a great camping trip!
